The Juice is Worth the Squeeze

Have you ever met someone who is perpetually upset with how his or her life is? Maybe sometimes you feel like the world is constantly against you. I will tell you that happiness is not something you attain. Instead, happiness is something you sustain. It’s constant work and it’s not easy, but the juice is worth the squeeze.

Do you know why so many people are so unhappy with their lives on a regular basis? Do you know why, time after time, people find themselves upset with their lives and the directions they are going?

It’s because most people are lazy. I’m sorry, but yes, if you are upset with your life, you are lazy. Listen, I once was lazy myself. There are many pros to being lazy. You don’t have to do much in order to exist. You’ve already cracked the code of existence and so there you are. You are existing. It’s not hard work at all to maintain that existence. You just keep waking up every morning, maintain the status quo, eat enough calories to keep from withering away, then go to sleep when you feel tired.

That’s existence in a nutshell, but that’s not living with purpose.

The fact is, it’s much easier to just let other things control your life and be unhappy. We say we don’t like being unhappy, but we are content with letting life happen to us (even if that means bringing things that make us unhappy). It’s so easy! If you simply exist, life will happen around you. It takes very little work at all! The cons are, however, that you must accept whatever it is that life brings you. Without putting in the work, you are stuck with however the dice landed. You live within a random shuffle and have to live with whatever end happens to come your way. It’s very easy work, but in the end, you let the chips fall where they may instead of laying those chips down exactly where you want them.

If you really want to take control of your life and your happiness, you have to stop allowing life to happen to you. Instead, you have to happen to life. It’s the more difficult road to take control of your life and your happiness but it’s worth it. You have to take the time to understand yourself, your wants, your desires, your true drivers, what you love, what you hate, how you operate. It’s a lot of work to take action every morning towards those things that will bring you more of that happiness. It’s a lot of work to maintain a relationship with friends, family, and the ones you love. It’s a lot of work to be the kind of person you always hoped to be, but in the end, after all of that work, you learn how to define your own fate.

You learn how to manifest your own happiness.

You learn how to manifest reality.

It’s amazing. I encourage you, at the very least, to take the time to understand yourself. Take the time to know yourself at the core so that you can view your life from outside of yourself and identify those things that add value to your life and those things that are toxic to your happiness. Even if you never add things to your life that increase your happiness, but instead simply remove those toxic elements of your life that detract from your happiness, you will find more peace and happiness within your life. Take the time to squeeze the juice. The additional happiness itself in the end is worth that extra work.
